Fusignano, a small village near Ravenna, in northern Italy. Demus de' Bela is a young farmer in search of fun and trouble. One Tuesday in 1955, as he is taking a nap in the shade, Demus is awakened by a noise: a child is climbing a tree. The child looks around and suddenly decides to jump to the ground. Something sparks in Demus's imagination: he has an idea. On Sunday many curious people gather in the courtyard of a house. Demus has announced his new stunt: having climbed onto a roof and armed with an umbrella, he is convinced that by jumping, he will be able to fly.
