Eddy Hamel was an American Jew, born in 1902 in New York, where he lived on the Upper East Side in Manhattan, where his parents - Eva and Moshe - arrived a year before his birth. When their American dream ended, they returned with their son to Amsterdam, where he, at the age of 20, was registered with the local AFC Ajax.
