Synopsis
“Daily Dose” follows Evelyn West in a day of her life, several years after the loss of her husband, Wilfred West, to suicide caused by post-traumatic stress disorder. Wilfred was an investigative war journalist who was suddenly removed from his work due to the pandemic. Evelyn is unable to accept Wilfred’s death because he is her one and only soulmate. Before Wilfred’s tragic death, Evelyn tried to heal Wilfred’s mental state by attempting to have a baby, but each pregnancy ended in miscarriage. Evelyn cannot bear her true reality and refuses to change her perception. She believes “a baby will fix everything” because it’s the only thing that will save Wilfred, in her mind.
Evelyn is aided in her delusion by the self-serving and cruel company she keeps. Tired of repeatedly reminding Evelyn her husband is dead, three of the closest people to her feed and twist her delusions for their own gain and desires. Daphne Dahlman, Evelyn’s mother, wants a weekly paycheque from Wilfred’s estate to facilitate her lavish lifestyle. Sofia Soleda, Evelyn’s neighbour, pursues friendship to escape her solitude. Dr. Anderson, Evelyn’s therapist, pushes for a lasting cure to her mental health crisis, hoping it will lead to a romantic relationship between them.
