Synopsis
Hunted in Kherson is a frontline documentary shot in one of the most dangerous cities in Ukraine. Under constant shelling and relentless drone surveillance by Russian forces.

This film is an attempt to show what that feels like. Directed by Caolan Robertson, a journalist and filmmaker who has spent the past two years documenting the war in Ukraine, it was made independently, without a crew or external funding. While filming, Caolan was pursued by Russian attack drones through the city. That footage became central to the film, but more importantly, so did the quiet, everyday moments of fear, resilience, and survival he witnessed among the people who live there.

Since its release online, Hunted in Kherson has been viewed over two million times. It became the most-watched documentary about the city and helped bring renewed attention a new and growing type of terror facing residents there. FPV attacks against civilians. In the weeks after it was released, major global outlets like CNN and The Wall Street Journal began reporting from the city again.

Hunted in Kherson follows Caolan’s previous documentary, Under Deadly Skies, which focused on Russian war crimes in eastern and southern Ukraine and went on to win 15 international awards in 2023. Both films are part of the effort to use independent journalism and documentary storytelling to make sure that what’s happening in Ukraine continues to be seen, and remembered.

I’m incredibly grateful for your consideration
