On Caught Between Two Countries: A Border School Crisis, students from Palomas, Mexico travel to Deming, New Mexico to attend school. “For more than 40 years, the small agricultural town of Deming, New Mexico has allowed children from Palomas, Mexico, 34 miles to the south, to attend its schools. It is part of a unique relationship between these two border cities, but this year there may be a break in tradition.”
