Fleeing is not just about leaving a region, but also about leaving a life. “Not for us” is a documentary essay film about people fleeing to Europe and the challenges they face after arriving. At the centre is a symbolic figure, accompanied by various voice-over narratives. Refugees from countries such as Kurdistan, Morocco, Syria, Turkey and Philippines share their experiences and emotions. Some are still in the midst of fleeing, while others have been living in Switzerland for many years. The film explores the ongoing struggle for belonging, the feeling of insecurity, and a sense of alienation and asks the question: What kind of an emotional journey is involved in looking for a new home?
