Sacred Curse (Mal Sagrado) is a short film that follows the journey of Ciça, a woman who earns her living washing clothes on the banks of the São Francisco River in northeastern Brazil, where she finds sustenance and a deep connection with nature. However, her life is marked by an event that forces her to reevaluate her relationship with this very environment.

Through themes such as identity, resilience and connection with the natural world, the film uses almost no words. This further enhances the power of gestures, silence, small actions and music to convey a profound emotional experience, in which the strength of the character and the river are central to the narrative.
