Mugen Dream Forge is an anthology multiverse. Each film is a self-contained world — different characters, different aesthetics, different genres.

Masayumi, creator and Game Master, is the only constant across all of them. She doesn't live in these worlds. She builds them.
Hate or Dance is the first.

Everything in this film is deliberate.
The contrast is the film. Not a stylistic choice, it is the actual subject, the film was designed to make that felt rather than explained.
It works through the music first. A blackened metal score holding the battlefield in sustained, unresolved tension, then children's voices, a soprano choir ascending, a Sanskrit mantra dropping over a minimal sacred techno pulse. The emotional whiplash is intentional. But that's what the film is.

It works through the design. Two factions built from two of the most visually powerful iconographic traditions I know, Ancient Egyptian armor and Ghanaian kente textile, each with a battle identity and a dancing identity. Twenty-two costumes in total. The same characters, two completely different states of being.
It works through color. The battlefield lives in a cold, desaturated pre-dawn palette. The transformation lives in saturated tricolor smoke. The two registers never contaminate each other. Their separation is the meaning.
This is a singular film for me. It carries different parts of who I am, the fantasy geek, the person who believes transformation is always possible, the filmmaker who thinks joy is as serious a subject as war. AI was used throughout as a tool in service of those intentions. Never the other way around.

This film was produced in partnership with Cascade, an end-to-end AI-native production platform built by the teams behind Avengers: Endgame, No Time To Die and Wicked.
