2026
Comedy Drama Short
Synopsis
Produced in partnership with Memorial Sloan Kettering. Frank and Edna was cast in part with actors who are themselves cancer survivors or currently in treatment, bringing authenticity to a short story about facing mortality without losing your sense of hope.

Frank spent his life keeping the city moving as an MTA worker. Now retired, he's facing a terminal diagnosis from decades of unwitting asbestos exposure. When an accidental edible overdose sends him on a hallucinatory joyride through the city, Frank stumbles into a vision of his grandson urging him toward an old, buried dream: racing at Le Mans. The next morning, his daughter Stacey finds him wandering the streets, disoriented and rambling about race cars, all from one panicked call from her mother, Edna.

It isn't until Frank collapses that Stacey discovers what is tucked inside his robe: a test result hinting at just how little time he has left. She makes a decision on the spot. Whatever it takes, her father is going to race.

Together with their family and community of misfits they campaign to turn Franks fantasy into reality. Frank and his ragtag race team, head to Florida for the 24 Hours of Daytona, in a long-shot bid to qualify for Le Mans. They start dead last.

No one expects them to finish, let alone contend, but as they claw their way up the field, the crowd falls in love with the impossible underdogs in a car sponsored by a good for your colon fibre brand.

Then disaster: a crash during team lead,  Chuck's stint takes them out of contention, and the dream seems dead. But Chuck isn't done. During the post race dinner where Edna reveals the truth about Frank's health. Chuck makes one phone call, one last favor called in, and Frank gets his moment. He drives the safety car at the opening of the actual 24 Hours of Le Mans. It's everything he wanted.

And it's enough.
