At sixty, Delwyn’s life changes abruptly when her husband leaves her.

The Sparrow follows Delwyn's true story during the uncertain period that comes after, when the future she assumed she knew is suddenly gone. Through fragments of daily life, humour, memory and imagined possibilities, the film considers what it means to have no clear idea what comes next.

Rather than offering a neat story of reinvention, The Sparrow stays with that uncertainty. Delwyn may become many things, or none of the things she imagines. For the first time in years, her future is open.
