"Avanti con amore" initially appears to tell the sweet story of an elderly couple, Chiara and Stefano. Soon, however, the documentary unveils the true reality of their marriage, built on distance, infidelity, and resentment. The narrative turns its focus to Chiara's life, a woman shaped by hardship since her youth: the loss of her teenage brother, years spent away from home, raising four children, and caring for sick parents—all alongside an absent and harsh husband. Today, as Stefano struggles with Alzheimer's and dementia, Chiara must care for the very man who made her life so difficult. What gives her the strength to keep going is her deep love for her children and grandchildren.
