The film documents the reassembly of a roughly 20-year-old Wegscheider organ in Lehnin Abbey Church—a modern replica of a historic Baroque instrument.
As a team of highly specialized organ builders exposes the instrument’s complex inner workings and overhauls its mechanism, they pass on their expertise to the next generation. Local youths shadow the craftspeople and the church musician; they ask questions, explore the technology, and share what they have learned with others. In this way, the work site becomes a meeting place for different generations and forms of knowledge.

At the same time, the Baroque instrument creates a fascinating bridge to the modern era: its sound is based on a switching system whose fundamental logic anticipates the world of computers.
