When a dead cockroach is discovered on a suburban kitchen floor, a police officer, crime scene investigator, and seasoned detective treat the case with the utmost seriousness. Every step of a real homicide investigation unfolds—from securing the scene and collecting forensic evidence to laboratory toxicology reports and suspect interviews. As the investigators painstakingly uncover the cause of death, they discover the cockroach was killed by bug spray, leading the detective back to question the homeowner. Told entirely with a straight face, the comedy comes from the contrast between the high-stakes crime procedural style and the hilariously insignificant “victim.”
