Ichi drives Andrea home, but his polite mannerisms seem increasingly bizarre. Andrea thanks him and reflects on how distrustful and violent human beings can be toward one another, and on how reason and dialogue can dispel fear and prevent one from succumbing to raw survival instinct. Just as Andrea is about to leave, Ichi confesses that he had been on the verge of killing him but had held back after hearing Andrea’s words. Ichi speeds away, leaving a shaken Andrea to head toward his building's entrance. As he opens the door, a woman carrying a cradle appears beside him.
