After Psycho Shower

SCREENING VERSION 16mm triple projection, “After Psycho Shower”, which deconstructs the famous shower-murder scene from Hitchcock’s “Psycho”, frame by frame, and concludes in melting and burning of film itself after the obsessive repetition of it, aiming at renewal of the cultural memory of this well-known images into audio-visual ‘experience’. The soundtrack of this expanded ‘horror’ cinema performance consists of noise music, which unconsciously ambushes the audience. “After Psycho Shower” is the piece that (dis)unites the relation between sound and image in horror cinema, previously severed by digitalization of the both, in an indeterminate and contingent way of improvised audio-visual performance.

The Boy Game

The Boy Game follows the stories of three boys whose lives are intertwined: Reynaldo, who masks his own insecurities by acting tough who targets Noel, too scared of looking weak to tell anyone, and Kenny, the protagonist and bystander, who is increasingly conflicted by his friendship with both. Based on off-the-record interviews with boys nationwide, then fashioned into a hard hitting scenario, it was shot like a doc to capture the intense pressures boys face every day. The video comes with a cutting edge study guide. Written by two Harvard Educators, (designed to be used with co-ed groups or boys alone) it's a resource in itself.

A wealth of poverty, the chintzy is rich.

A documentary of the 20th anniversary of the indigenous RidduRiddu festival, which is a annual festival that takes place in northern Norway. Indigenous people from all over the world travel to this remote place to partake in the festival. Through the Norwegian minister of culture and the former festival leaders, the documentary explores the importance of the festival and what it stands for, which is tolerance, cultural diversity and acceptance. During the filming of the documentary, tragedy strikes as terrorist Anders Behring Breivik kills 77 people in Oslo. One of the victims is the daughter of one of the former leaders. An act against multiculturalism which the RidduRiddu festival stands for. Are festivals such as this more important after the massacre?

A simple score: when the loop is one frame long, it plays only once; when it is two frames long, it plays twice; three frames, three times; and so on. Space compresses but time stretches under this operation and instead of going nowhere, the repetition suggests infinity. As Dziga Vertov once said, there is time inside of time. Merle Haggard was in the audience when Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins played this song, Folsom Prison Blues, at San Quentin. Carl Perkins' locomotive guitar solo gets caught up in the gears of this video and stretches like a penny on a rail under the weight of a passing train.
