Hilda has been a Springbok Heights resident all her adult life and has had a crush on Wouter since the day he moved in. "Broken Windows" consists of the last footage shot with a digital camcorder - these are the dying gasps of the camera. On one level, the piece might serve as a de-mystification of the digital image itself; the degradation of the image broadly implies the processes by which the real world is interpreted as video. Video’s constitution of the world as image is laid bare, and it is disconcerting to see the torturous decay of the image as the camera fights to maintain its simulation of the world. On another level, however, the piece implies the impossible mystery of most technology for most viewers. The functioning of the camera, evident in the image only when it fails as here, is something which most of us can’t - or don’t want to - understand. We understand technology so little we must engage with it on a purely aesthetic level as a source of magic or wonder, as we do here.

Frost Table was filmed at dawn on the 1st of January 2008. It was so cold that the camera would barely turn, until the sun came up. The film is a very modest record of a moment in a place, with camera-movement making reference to the passage of days. Tholos is a film of a Mycenaean tomb at Nichoria in Messenia, Greece. Jasmine Tea unknowingly reprised a project given to students at at least one university, when they are short of ideas: make a film of a cup of tea! Garden examines an area of my garden, which can be sombre or joyful. Starting with minutiae, the film works its way outwards.

A semi-documentary, semi-fictional film of the days following the cold-blooded murder of Alexis Grigoropoulos, a 15-year-old boy, by the police in Athens in December 2008. In the film -- among other things -- are presented many original street scenes and media stuff of those days.

‘User Group Disco’ is set in the Hall of Sculptures, although only a series of mundane objects and utensils are visible, swirling in a black void. There is no evident architecture or human presence. Text flashes up on the screen which builds a narrative about these objects, the institution which holds them and the desire for consumerism. The work is accompanied by an immersive soundtrack developed especially for the video.

Had the Conny but only a brown bear desired! Your pony just does not fit in the Schaffhausen bus. »Conny ihr Pony« (2008) by Robert Pohle and Martin Hentze is already a well-known poetry film. He was awarded several times and was even nominated for the German Film Award in 2009. It is based on a text by the Swiss slam poet Gabriel Vetter.

Jake Preston, 40, an emotionally destitute migrant laborer hops trains and 'goes where the work is.' But something more keeps him running - his own haunting past. Through nostalgic flashbacks we learn of the intimate bond he formed in his youth with Farren McGraw, a fellow 17 year-old farm hand. When Farren dies a mysterious death, Jake feels guilty for not being able to save him. For twenty years he wanders with a broken heart. Like so many times before, Jake settles down for a time in a small roadside settlement in the Owens River Valleyt. Here, a chance encounter with David, a local delivery boy, brings Jake face to face with his own emotional destitution.
