2007 Colombian experimental short

Static shots with moving shadow of the tripod, including the shooting camera, are shifting through the film about direct association between an object and the machine which transforms it into an image - shadow drawings are completed one day by windows, clouds in a lake and texture of walls.

A vegetal portrait in which the shape of trees becomes pure color, light and shadow, an organic form in a permanent dialogue with abstraction.

Sketch Film #5 (Tomonari Nishikawa, 2007, 3 min., super 8, silent, 18/24fps, b&w, USA) This is the last film in the series. I shot at the site of Marin Headlands County in California when I was an artist in residence at the Headlands Center for the Art. The footage shows the nature in the area, as well as the historic buildings originally built for the US Army, including batteries and the Nike Missile Site. It was all edited in camera and hand-processed afterwards.

This documentary, originally produced for The Learning Channel back in 2007, tells the tale of the Heaven's Gate cult, from their humble beginnings on Haight-Ashbury back in the early 70's, up until the fateful day when they drank poison in the late 90's. There are interviews with a variety of different people, including former members.

Originally presented as an installation in the exhibition Evolution 2007 at Lumen in Leeds, GIFT OF FIRE devotes fetishistic attention to what is probably the first film in history: Louis-Aimé-Augustin Le Prince’s 1888 footage of traffic crossing Leeds Bridge.

Talsi is a little town in Latvia by the border, inhabited mostly by women due to the enormous loss of human lives during the WWII. The story of a province becomes the choral story of a feminine universe evoked by Liga the fortuneteller, who enters into the lives of the women she meets, speaking with them and interiorizing their lives, which she then transmits in open monologues in front of the camera.
