IF I DRINK I DON'T DRIVE

What would happen if a visibly drunk boy, in front of a club full of people, tried to drive? The video conceived and created for the #sebevononguido social campaign of the Municipality of Monza aims to answer this question, staging a social experiment. The story of Nicolò, an actor who pretends to be drunk, is intertwined with that of Marco, the narrator of the video. The plot is framed by the faces of young people who have been involved, unbeknownst to them, in the social experiment and who have decided to literally put their faces on it. The experiment is accompanied by the testimony of those who, for work, deal daily with the problem of driving while intoxicated. The video was made for Responsibly Young people, a project of the Municipality of Monza which aims to prevent and combat all forms of road accidents linked to alcohol and drug abuse, with particular attention to young people.

WITNESS to a FARCE

WITNESS to a FARCE

2026 • 20 min • United States
Witness to a Farce A Surrealist Story in Three Acts Witness to a Farce is a 20-minute film that examines the insidious nature of totalitarian regimes. Drawing on the historical realities of pre- and post-World War II Eastern Europe, it reflects on our contemporary political landscape, where echoes of authoritarianism continue to reappear. The film integrates photography, montage, AI image morphing, and digital painting. By juxtaposing historical resonance, metaphorical layering with a structure that moves from foreboding to distraction to devastation, it evokes the simultaneity of memory—the sense that the past never fully disappears but reemerges in new forms. Stark compositions, brutalist architecture, fog, and shadow convey the psychological toll of surveillance and control. Collaborating with composer Gabriel Chwojnik, the film integrates music, image, and sound into a surreal, cohesive whole. The music oscillates between dissonance and fragile melody, amplifying the visual rhythm and deepening the emotional register. Together, image and sound construct a psychological landscape that hovers between beauty and dread, echoing the tension of our own historical moment. Witness to a Farce is both a reflection on the past and a warning for the present—a meditation on the seductive allure of authoritarianism and its impact on the human soul. It seeks to remind viewers of the necessity of vigilance, empathy, and critical thought in protecting the fragile freedoms that define our shared humanity. The film unfolds in three acts—The Witness, The Farce, and The Awakening—forming an absurdist triptych of obedience, spectacle, and reckoning. In Act 1, we meet a woman working in her kitchen as a military occupation begins. The authoritarian ‘Leader’ gleefully tears up laws, erects a giant statue of himself, and offers a circus to distract the townspeople from the erosion of their freedoms. The woman turns herself into a mime – becoming the silent witness and the keeper of memories. In Act 2, The Farce is a grotesque circus where laughter conceals fear, and performance becomes compliance. By Act 3, The Awakening, all that remains are deserted tents, shell-shocked refugees, and the Leader’s statue dissolving in the rain. The mime and her companion reunite as flowers attempt to grow from the rubble. The narrative, though wordless, captures the cyclical nature of power and disappearance—the rhythm of history repeating itself.
