An exploration of iconography of the Virgin Mary from Early Christian to Modern painting. The way your eye would travel over a single painting, the camera travels over hundreds of images of Mary, discovering the many ways artists have revered her smile, hands, eyes, and the baby Jesus himself.

This video is laden with energy very reminiscent of the late 80's. Hell, very few vids these days have much energy to them. They all seem to be about nailing the trick - which is important - but there's also this thing called cinematography. 2nd To None has a fast pace and awesome skating. The intro montage is stunning. Filmed in the warehouse, it features the team sessioning everything from the top of a forklift to jumping gaps from one product rack to another. They pile stuff high and go wild on every surface in the place - including a few ramps. Some street footy is edited in as well. This vid is so well done, it's insane. Each rider has a part, some of which is in the warehouse, but most is out on the streets. They mix in some skits and other random stuff. There's a "Chariots of Fire" routine in which they push - in super slow-mo - doing a variety of tricks while trying to sabotage each other's runs.

Fear of Blushing bursts forth with irrepressible hand-painted color, corroded emulsion and a menacing soundscape of looped voices, distorted instrumentals, samples & rhythm. Fleeting visions and voices erupt out of the ominous abstraction in unusual juxtapositions, suggesting a cinematic free-association marked by anxiety, pleasure and shame. This film is hand-painted and is essentially about the interplay between hypnagogic vision and words, the effect of the one upon the other, the contest between the two. The hypnagogic (hand-paint) shapes are multiple and variably complex that they tend to suggest a variety of almost recognizable shapes, such as many brightly colored people or a mulch of flowers. The words, such as "Subversive" and "Liberating", along with many which are unreadable, seem to struggle for an equality of viewer comprehension, almost as if the brain were coming to terms again with the origins of written language: the pun "Quills" accentuates this. In all cases, language is subsumed, but leaves a distinctive trail of itself distinct from the painted images.

Optically printed, hand processed and painted, this film records the space of light. It attempts to remove the Form of abstraction from Matter and thus places the viewerin a virtual temporal-space. The last minute of film is comprised of clear leader. After this, the projector remains running with no film passing through its gate for30 - 60 seconds. This flickering white light completes the film’s projection.

In an act of unpredendented daring the Whitlam government paid the highest price ever for an American painting for it's planned National Gallery. The painting was Jackson Pollock's "Blue Poles". 'Drunks did it' screamed the tabloid press. Journalists, politicians and cartoonists had a field day, while everybody, but everybody, across the nation had an opinion. Today painter Jackson Pollock's masterpiece is unquestionably the most famous painting in Australia. It has become a symbol of our independence, signaling the departure from our British roots and entry into a brave new world.
