Also a double portrait, this video is an inside-out variation on DOUBLE NEPHRECTOMY. Here, the video uses projected light to penetrate my own body picturing my sister in her trade as an acupuncturist. While she treats me through burning herbs (moxibustion) and acupuncture needling, the video imagines the body as landscape. The contradiction between her commitment to an ancient healing practice and her dependence for survival on modern high technology medicine is an implicit subtext of the video.

Nationalism of the Dreyfus Affair (Barrès, Maurras, Drumont, Déroulède), the republican nationalism (Péguy), and the nationalism of the "Union sacrée" of the Great War. Pitted against these nationalisms was internationalist and pacifist socialism, which would itself adhere to the "Union sacrée "in 1914. This nationalist tendency also affected the young "Nouvelle Revue française" (Gide, Schlumberger, Copeau, Ghéon, Drouin), which defended the notion literature in its own right, but which itself was shot through with the spirit of the period. In counterpoint : Romain Rolland, author of "Au dessus de la mêlée". This first documentary of the series ends with the Russian Revolution.

In the second segment, 3 close friends plan a courage test in a haunted graveyard, Ryoko who is afraid of cemeteries, Toshiko who doesn't believe in paranormal phenomena, and Masako who lives in a house inside a cemetery.

This hand-painted step-printed film begins in a field of white light slightly bespeckled with ephemeral glazes of flecks of silver which gradually give way to pale suggestions of pastel colors. These take shape occasionally and flicker the forthcoming bits of solid colored and multiply formed abstract images, a few brief sequences-of-such intersperced with the cloud-suggestive silvered passages as at beginning, which eventually end the film.
