The emotional whiplash is intentional. But that's what the film is. It works through the design. Two factions built from two of the most visually powerful iconographic traditions I know, Ancient Egyptian armor and Ghanaian kente textile, each with a battle identity and a dancing identity. Twenty-two costumes in total. The same characters, two completely different states of being. It works through color. The battlefield lives in a cold, desaturated pre-dawn palette. The transformation lives in saturated tricolor smoke. The two registers never contaminate each other. Their separation is the meaning. This is a singular film for me. It carries different parts of who I am, the fantasy geek, the person who believes transformation is always possible, the filmmaker who thinks joy is as serious a subject as war. AI was used throughout as a tool in service of those intentions. Never the other way around. This film was produced in partnership with Cascade, an end-to-end AI-native production platform built by the teams behind Avengers: Endgame, No Time To Die and Wicked.
