To mark the 30th anniversary of Kodak's invention of the Super 8 format, the Close Encounters of the 8th Type in Tours, France, asked filmmakers to make a film in this format. I was the only filmmaker to respond favorably to this request, and I created a tribute to 1965 by "compressing" a cult film from that year: Jean-Luc Godard's Alphaville . Jean-Luc Godard's Alphaville Compression is a 25-fold reduction of Alphaville , the 1965 masterpiece Jean-Luc Godard directed, starring Anna Karina, Eddie Constantine, Howard Vernon, and Akim Tamiroff, from a runtime of 1 hour 30 minutes into a 4-minute film. The film is "compressed" in the manner of a work by César. But unlike the work of this artist, who compressed everyday objects, Jean-Luc Godard's Alphaville Compression compresses an artistic object! The feat and challenge of Jean-Luc Godard's Alphaville Compression was to create a total compression: in this film, not a single shot from the original film is missing!

War wounds body and soul : it divides a country, Yugoslavia, it splits families. A Serbian family with six children, who had been living in France for thirty years, went back to Belgrade while one of the daughters, Astrid, chose to stay in France. Fifteen months later the father and mother with one of their sons, come to spend a few days in Paris. The brother and sister meet again before what will be a new painful separation.

Nine-year-old Serbian girl Yulia Nikolaich mourns on the ruins of her native city of Ilidza. She begs adults not to shoot at her land, not to destroy her home, not to kill her relatives, her childhood, her fairy tale. But the adults do not listen, and blood is shed, and hatred fills the soul. The film covers the peacekeeping forces in Yugoslavia, the Ukrainian battalion in Sarajevo, and its help in restoring peace in the region.

"The fragility of appearances" is a summer film, of complicity, a film linked to the situation of "now or never" because it is born of encounters, availability, reflections or states of being in motion as time, ultimately a "snapshot" cinematographic. (Jacqueline Aubenas)

Born in Constantine, in 1929, having lived in France and in Europe for a long time, poet, novelist and playwright, Kateb Yacine is one of the bestknown North African writers: a forerunner. In this film, Kateb Yacine talks about his work, about his ideas. His whole life springs up from memories. Images which are dealt like cards provide the key to an outstanding process of thought. None but himself is able to represent Algeria in search for its memory, for its history, thus enabling the rebirth, in « the garden among the flames… », of Nedjma, symbol of the woman, of the homeland… the essential key to the life and work of the writer, the film’s real clue.

The short is told by Joel Cutrara and this time he tells about Cisco, who builds a commercial success out of electronic torture devices. Cisco is presented as the hero of the movie, but his story is a cynical one, involving exploitation of workers and suppression of the masses.

Jim Dine: A Self-Portrait on the Walls is a 1995 American short documentary film about artist Jim Dine produced by Nancy Dine and Richard Stilwell. The film follows Dine as he produces an exhibition by drawing in charcoal directly on the walls of a German museum. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Short.
